Boris Konovalov is a Canadian Russian concert pianist. He is internationally acclaimed musician with many concerts around the world, performing with numerous symphonic orchestras, solo recitals, giving master-classes and adjudicating on various music festivals and competitions. The highlight of his performances include symphony concerts in the “Russia” Great Hall in Moscow, solo recitals in The Chopin Society in London, concerts in The Jerusalem International Music Festival. He has PhD in Moscow Tchaikovski Conservatory at the school of Prof. Genrich Neigause, the teacher of Svyatoslav Richter and Emil Gilells. He is a proponent of the famous Russian traditions in piano technique. He won many international and domestic competitions, among them the First Prize and Golden Medal in The All-Russia Piano Competitions.

He was about 5 years old when he started to play piano. He was 11 when he won first prize on his first piano competition, it was The All-Siberian Piano Competition for Young Children. He played already Mozskovsky etude# 2, Hayden Sonata in E-flat major, Bach Three-part invention, etc. He was 12 when he played a recital with Mozart sonata in A-minor, Beethoven Sonata # 17 ''the Tempest'', List Hungarian Rhapsody # 13 and Beethoven Concerto # 1. Boris Konovalov has a Master Degree from Thaikovski Conservatory, Moscow, USSR under Prof. Vera Gornostaeva and soon become a Doctor of Musical Arts.

He has about 40 solo recital programs, 50 pieces for chamber ensembles, 30 concertos for piano and orchestra by Johan Sebastian Bach, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Frederic Chopin, Ferenz List, Johannes Brahms, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Peter Tchaikovski, etc.

A while ago, we had an artist who came to Korea and left a deep impression on the audience. Through excellent performances, master classes and lectures, this artist impressed the audience with his talented musical ability. This artist is Dr.Boris Konovalov, a pianist. However, on October 16th, at the Little Angel's Art Center, we had the pleasure of watching him perform a well matured concert with the Carte Chamber Orchestra. At this performance, he demonstrated his talent and musical ability, which are said to be supernatural and deep, yet maintaining freshness and refinement.
